Any Legs Are Much Better Than No Legs!

I’ve always stressed the importance of being very discerning when it comes to precise shot placement on game animals. With my current position as a co-host for two extremely high profile outdoor television shows, I feel that it’s my responsibility to ensure that, now more than ever, I practice what I’ve long preached.

For too long I was forced to make do with whatever type of “gun rest” was readily available at the moment of truth. In the past I’ve used literally everything---a rock, tree, tree limb, backpack, and even a guide’s shoulder--to ensure I make an accurate, ethical shot. Thankfully, and in spite of having to work with makeshift rests, I’ve pretty much been able to get the job done. Still, there was always that hint of doubt….

I’m happy to report that I now head into all my gun hunts with the utmost confidence. That’s because I know that I’ll be fully prepared and, more importantly, rock steady when a shot opportunity presents itself. Amazingly, gaining such confidence didn’t entail making any dramatic changes in my hunting approach. It was simply a matter of adding one basic and very portable piece of equipment to my gun-hunting gear.
